Its been a really sad week for me  as I cant seem to believe that Nujabes ( Seba Jun) is gone. Passed away on the 26th of February and I didnt hear this sad news until a few days ago.

Seba Jun was is a god of instrumentals. He well known and respected all over the world especially in Japan where his music originated from. His rise to fame was when he worked with a few other artists to produce the official soundtrack for the big hit anime  ’ Samurai Champloo’. Ever since then he never slept , not for one minute as he a always kept giving us more music and opening doors for producers of similar style. He worked with Substantial, CYNE, Shing02, Apani B, Five Deez and so many other artists.  He sampled a few artists himself including Terry Callier.

He released 2 independent full length albums ( Metaphorical Music and Modal Soul ) both being huge success in Japan. He released a few compilations which include  HydeOut First Collection, HydeOut Second Collection and Modal Soul Classics. He also worked with DJ Ryow of ShinSight Trio and released an 80 minute long mixtape. He is close friends with ThinkTwice of Specifics, Shing02 (provided the vocals for battlecry) and Substantial.

He owned and ran 2 record labels, HydeOut and Guiness Records. HydeOut is responsible for artists like Uyama Hiroto, Substantial, Pase Rock, Emancipaor, Nitsua, Jemapur and many more.

He will surely be missed and I’m having a hard time myself. I waited for his new releases and already planned my trip to Japan sometime just to see the legend.

BTW: He had some unreleased songs on his computer and they are being put together to be released under his label HydeOut.
